The Basics of Blogging
Are you are thinking about creating a blog for your web site because you have a wealth of knowledge to share with your current and prospective clients? Good for you! Please remember when you create something, you need to feed and nourish it regularly.
Here’s a short check list for you to consider as your prepare to launch your blog:
Create a blogging schedule. This is very important! It can be as easy as deciding to post a blog entry once a week on a particular day. A schedule allows you to set aside a portion of your busy day to concentrate on building your online presence so your potential customers can find you.
Choose a blogging platform: There are several blogging platforms to choose from including WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr. I use WordPress for many of my clients. Here is a comprehensive list of blogging platforms for your review.
Write down a list of topics that are based on common questions you receive from your customers about your products and services. Each blog entry can be a single topic that is straight to the point or you can develop a topic through a series of entries. Think of a series as chapters in a book.
Promote each blog entry through your social media channels such as LinkedIn and Twitter. This will help build your online presence by reaching potential customers.
This check list addresses the important foundation needed to get you started on building your online presence.
Editor’s Note: My intention here is to give you a starting point for developing your own “best practices” for your business.
